There's nothing worse than going on a very relaxing ride with your significant other, riding along the pasture during sunset on a warm spring night, and then you’re hit with buzz buzz buzz: flies flying all around you. Can you say annoying!?!?! Luckily, Valley Vet has a lot of options to help protect you and your horse from those pesky little insects (along with mosquitoes too, yuck!).
Personally, we use Bite Free Biting Fly Repellent by Farnam. It not only is the least expensive product we own, it works great. We spray our horses down with this product before a ride, before an event, or if we are going to be doing any work with the horse, and the flies stay away! It's water and sweat resistant, and also has sunscreen to help protect the horse from UV rays, which for a fair skinned horse is very important.
Probably the coolest product for protection against mosquitoes for humans is the mosquito patch. An all natural patch that sticks to the side of your arm, and poof...bye bye nasty bugs!
